Terms & Responsibility

Routeplane is a local-first OpenAI-compatible router that runs on your machine and forwards requests to AI providers using credentials you supply. It does not store keys, log prompts, or operate shared infrastructure.

Routeplane is not a marketplace, proxy pool, or multi-tenant service. Your keys stay on your machine. Your calls are made directly from your environment. Routeplane does not resell, redistribute, or pool provider quotas.

These summaries are for orientation only. Consult each provider’s current terms for authoritative language.

  • GitHub Copilot — Personal use permitted under the GitHub Terms for Copilot. Redistribution, resale, or automated access by third-party tooling may be restricted. See: https://docs.github.com/en/site-policy/github-terms/github-terms-for-additional-products-and-features
  • xAI Grok — Access governed by xAI Terms of Service. Personal and limited commercial use may be allowed; automated redistribution or quota sharing is typically disallowed. See: https://x.ai/legal/terms
  • OpenAI — Governed by OpenAI Terms of Use and Usage Policies. Personal and commercial use permitted within rate limits; reselling API access or circumventing limits is prohibited. See: https://openai.com/policies/terms-of-use
  • Anthropic — Subject to Anthropic Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy. Personal and commercial use allowed; automated proxying or quota pooling is generally disallowed. See: https://www.anthropic.com/legal/terms
  • Google — Governed by Google Cloud Terms and Gemini API terms. Personal and commercial use permitted within quotas; redistribution or abuse triggers may result in suspension. See: https://cloud.google.com/terms
  • OpenRouter — Subject to OpenRouter Terms of Service. Personal and commercial routing permitted; users must respect upstream provider limits. See: https://openrouter.ai/terms

Users should:

  • Review the terms of each provider whose subscription they route through Routeplane.
  • Ensure their usage pattern (local routing, personal scripts, team tooling) complies with the provider’s acceptable-use and redistribution clauses.
  • Avoid routing requests on behalf of other users or services unless the provider explicitly permits it.
  • Refrain from using Routeplane to circumvent provider rate limits, abuse-detection systems, or quota policies.
  • Obtain their own commercial agreements if they intend to resell or redistribute model access.

Routeplane does not:

  • Store API keys or prompts.
  • Log request content.
  • Operate shared infrastructure that pools quotas.
  • Monetize or resell your provider usage.

Routeplane authors and contributors are not legal counsel and provide no warranty regarding compliance with any provider’s terms of service. You are solely responsible for understanding and adhering to the terms you accepted with each AI provider. If you are uncertain about a provider’s policy on local routing, automated access, or redistribution, consult the provider directly or seek independent legal advice.
